“Glasgow’s friendliest college”. A very true statement. The college is a skills college catering for many differing age groups and backgrounds. Extremely proud of their eco friendly campus and staff approach, the college is an integral part of the community. With a range of courses that are complimented by the support mechanism that John Wheatley College provides to students and the wider network. The college goes from strength to strength as does Advanceworx’s relationship with all involved. Understanding the people involved with the college, from students to staff, as well as the community was crucial.
Advanceworx were invited to give our take on the 2009/2010 college prospectus. We identified key areas that were important to engage current and prospective students. These key areas were: the college identity “Glasgow’s friendliest college”, the building and the people who use it. As a college that differentiates itself from other organisations, it was important to create visually why they were different and why it is a unique place to be and to learn. Our thoughts were being channeled towards the people who love spending time at John Wheatley College and just what it means to them.
Unique offering, unique place to be, unique bespoke design to mirror this. We studied the surroundings, architecture of the building and how it’s many students integrate within these surroundings. We looked at the heart of the college and found that its strapline is very true. We then started on a series of unique and personal illustrations to allow for a feel of working and studying within John Wheatley College. Our strategy for the mechanics of informing of courses and information was simple to us: Well structured, recognisable and high impact pages that would appeal whilst informing.
Following on from the design and creative Advanceworx supplied, 10,000 copies of the prospectus were produced with Advanceworx managing all print requirements. The style and design of the prospectus sends out a very clear and personal message, one that says John Wheatley College is a place to study and a place to enjoy. We have currently been invited to tender to supply for the 2010/2011 prospectus and this is testament to the success that Advanceworx, John Wheatley College and the students have all enjoyed. We enjoyed working with all involved at the college and look forward to the future relationship.
